BIBLE STUDIES

Sunday Adult Bible Study

The Gospel According to Mark

Come and join us on Sunday mornings as we explore the Gospel according to Mark. This Gospel account is the shortest of the four Gospels, yet is full of action! Mark calls on the hearers / readers of this text to “see” Jesus, to know Him as the Savior and to follow Him. This year many churches around the world will be reading much of Mark. Take time to be enriched in God’s Word, prepared for worship, and equipped to follow Jesus.

Children’s Sunday School

Ages Pre-K through 5th Grade are invited to join us as we work through our Enduring Faith curriculum, with a special emphasis on how God’s salvation story points us to Jesus. We are proud to offer a strong, Bible-based curriculum here at Light of the Hills, with every class designed to share God’s love for us in Jesus and help children see the exciting role they have to play in God’s epic salvation story. We encourage parents to bring their children each week to our Sunday School opening upstairs in the Education Building, greet their child’s teacher, and join us for a time of song and prayer together before dismissal into Pre-K and elementary classrooms. You can rest easy knowing that all of our teachers have been vetted and undergone professional third-party background checks.

Children are also encouraged to bring loose change offerings each week to Sunday School, which are used to support needy children through Compassion International.

Time & Location: 9:30 am upstairs in the Conference Room of the Education Building for opening; upstairs classrooms for class time.

Sunday High School Bible Study – Walking with the Word

The Chosen

Join us as we watch parts of the TV series, The Chosen, which looks at the life and ministry of Jesus through the lens of His followers. We’ll take time to examine the Scriptural passages various scenes are based on, and in doing so, grow in our appreciation of the patience, love, courage, and radical grace Jesus embodied as He walked among us. If you sometimes feel like Jesus is just an idea or a name without a face, this is the study for you!

Past studies have included: How to Listen to a Sermon, Paul’s letter to the Galatians, Christianity and other religions; the New Testament book of Colossians; how we should read the creation account; coping with anxiety as a disciple; the resurrection of Christ in history; selected psalms; parables; prayer; the Holy Spirit and Sanctification, and much more!

Time & Location: 9:30-10:30 am in the Youth Room.

Saturday Sisters’ Women’s Bible Study

We welcome all women to join our Saturday Sisters’ Bible study!

The group meets Saturday mornings at 9 am in the Education Building. Currently, we are about half way through Engaging the Psalms, which has some words from Martin Luther as well as plenty of opportunities for us to use other commentaries as we delve into the Psalms.

We encourage women to join us any time, as you are available. As we head into the warmer seasons, several of our group are frequently traveling, camping, and visiting family. Thus, we will have email communications to confirm our arrangements each week. If you are even vaguely interested in coming, please email Debra Smith. She will include you in the meeting arrangements.

Time and Location: 9:00 am every Saturday in the Education Building.
