Biography of Pastor Alan Sommer

Alan was born in Seattle, WA, and is the third of four children.  He and his two brothers were active in all kinds of sports as they grew up.  Alan was the captain of his high school basketball team, and also played two years of basketball at the small college level when he attended seminary.  He attended Concordia College in Portland, Oregon, where he received his BA.  From there it was on to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, where he received his MDiv in 1990, and was ordained as a pastor that summer.

Alan and his wonderful wife Beth were married in January of 1993.  They have two precious children, Abigail, and David, who bring them great joy!

Alan's favorite hobby, when he has the time, is fishing.  He enjoys getting outdoors in the fresh air, camping with his family, and goofing around with his kids.  He has also enjoyed learning to make home movies on his computer.

Being a pastor is something that Alan really loves.  He marvels at the Lord's forgiveness, grace, and guidance, and is very confident in God's leadership.  He feels very blessed to serve Light of the Hills, and looks forward to where God is leading us.
