Light of the Hills Bible Studies

We are reminded in Luther's Small Catechism that the power of God is given through His Holy Word.  It is God’s Word that we are to "hear, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest . . . that by patience of comfort of Thy Holy Word we may embrace, and ever hold fast, the blessed hope of everlasting life" which God has given us in Christ Jesus. (Collect for the Word).

Light of the Hills offers many Bible classes and studies.  You are invited to join us in the study of God's Word.  The following classes are now available.

Healthy Hearts for Women
Women's Bible Study

This is a weekly bible study that focuses not only on our own hearts but the heart of Jesus. We meet every Saturday morning starting at 8:20am for our walkers. We take a good 30 minute walk through the community prior to the bible study, then at 9:00 am we return to the church for our study in the library. We are presently studying the book of Proverbs and it has and continues to be a blessing to all that attend.  

We use God’s word and each other to strengthen and invigorate our hearts. The study usually ends at 10:00 am. Praying for and with each other is our gift to each other. Choose to become a steward of the heart. Join us on Saturday mornings!

LifeLight Bible Study

There are two LifeLight Bible Studies at Light of the Hills.  There is a Wednesday morning study at 9:30 am and a Wednesday evening study at 7:00 pm. LifeLight Bible Studies are unique in their structure.  Each LifeLight Bible Study meets in periods of 6-9 weeks at a time.  Each participant receives a study guide which contains guiding questions for each weekly session.  The study guide is designed to allow for personal Bible study 5 days a week. The group study on Wednesday allows the participants to gather together and discuss that week's session.  This is a wonderful format as it allows for both personal and corporate reflection on God's Word.  The questions provide an opportunity to reflect and meditate on the text as well as apply it to your own life.

Wednesday Afternoon Women's Bible Study

On Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:15 a group of women meets for fellowship, Bible study and prayer. The studies follow a variety of topics during the year.  For fall 2007, the group will be studying Romans.  Childcare is available.

Men's Saturday Morning Bible Study

The Saturday morning men’s Bible study is built on a foundation of God’s inspired word, faithful men and strong coffee.  This study provides a time to dig deep into the rich history and inspired details of scripture, to share perspectives, and to pray for the needs of each other, the church, and the world.   Starting the study at 7 AM and committing to end with prayer at 8 AM gives enough time to allow for patient examination of God's word, but also keeps the rest of the day open for those inevitable weekend projects.  This informal gathering fosters a greater understanding and appreciation of scripture and strengthens relationships with other men.

LWML Bible Study

Where do we go when we are troubled, anxious, have questions and do not want to discuss these in a mixed group of men and women?  Well, sisters, in Christ, the afternoon LWML Bible study is the place to find help in God's word.  We do not carry over one study to another week; therefore, if one week is missed, you will not have to catch up because there is no carry over.  The only thing missed is you!  We meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month beginning in October at the home of Dolores Jarvis.  You may contact her at 530-672-1232 or e-mail: dajarvis@sbcglobal.net.  Our last study will be May 30th at 1:00 P.M.  We will resume in October.  Come join us.  All women are welcome.
